We'll start with my ABSOLUTE favorite recipe. I got it from my mother in law, and it has brought me many satisfying meals...
She calls this the recipe for pizza crust, and I agree. It is a yummy pizza crust. But it's so much more than that! I'll get into the many uses I've found for this dough in later posts, but for now, here is the recipe for it:
Pizza Crust
1 package dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)
1 cup warm water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 1/2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dissolve yeast in warm water, set aside. Mix the dry ingredients together, add the oil and then the yeast/water mixture. Mix with spoon until in comes together. Then knead for about 5 minutes. The dough should be smooth (add a bit more water if dry, a bit more flour if too sticky). Spray bowl with vegetable oil, and turn to coat dough. Let rest for 5 minutes. Roll out to desired thickness and top with favorite pizza toppings. Bake for about 20 minutes, until crust is lightly golden brown. For a crispier crust, brush with oil before baking. Makes one large pizza crust.
There you have it!
